So I feel I've been posting less and less lately on Dev Art, but I haven't been all unproductive. In between full-time work I've been posting some simple stock illustrations over at Shutterstock and trying to build up a robust collection of stock art. I've tried to also work in a different style when I can too.

You can check out my gallery over here:

It was a bit of a hassle at first to work within the confines of the submission guidelines (gotta downsave for Illustrator 8?!?!), but I'd highly recommend getting an account if you've got a nice collection of vector arts:)

Ok, a major gripe I have working in the design industry, what is with this incessant need for Adobe to update their  design software packages almost immediately after the previous iteration is out in stores or before anyone has even had the chance to wrap their heads around the current update? In my job we have to deal with a lot of people sending a lot of different files from a lot of different versions. It can get tricky and frustrating.

Taking Illustrator as an example, this list gives you an idea of how often they update: [link]

I've been working with Illustrator for the last 6 years now and I have yet to find anything that justifies the price tag they attach, which is anything from a $200US upgrade to $700US brand new. Don't forget, that that's up to $700 for ONE of the many design programs which are usually in a designers arsenal, ONE! I can easily say that anything that has been put into the last 5 versions could have just as easily been done with a simple plug-in, why not adopt that method and people can opt in to the things they want rather than the things you tell them they need? People don't use more than half the shit that's in that program anyway.

Ok rant over. Anyone else find the same frustrations?

I get a lot of people interested in how I create my pieces. This isn't my tutorial but it's the closest thing to how I actually create a good majority of my pieces:)

Hey guys and girls, great news! One of my character designs over at patchtogether dot com just got moved to it's ON DEMAND stage, which essentially means that once it gets 20 or so pre-orders it'll be taken into further production and made into a figurine! So go pre-order it or i'll never look at your art again!!!....jk;P But if you are interested in figurines in general go check out the site, also *cough* my design is over at [link] *cough*
